Gemma is a young rising star of eventing. Having started riding at the age of 18 months (as her mother
has a riding school), she proved to be a natural and by the time she
was 8 had won the riding club junior (U17) dressage championship and
her first one day event! 'They are very
comfortable and hold my leg in the perfect position helping to keep me
in balance with the horse. |

Alex Barr![]() |
ALEX BARR has been a
professional showjumper for 10 years and has many titles to his name.
He most recently won the Scottish Puissance Championships at Ingleston
on Utopie where he jumped 2m. He was also second in the Scottish
Indoor Championship on Ben Quicke. 'At last a saddle that fits me and all my horses. I have never found it so easy to switch between horses and still get consistently good results at competitions. The versatility of the saddle is fantastic. For professional riders with a yard of horses it is a perfect solution. I also recommend non-professional riders try the Childeric. The saddle can be more bespoke for one (or two) horses as well as made for the rider A secure and balanced rider is much easier to teach and the horses improve too. The saddles only take six weeks to get delivered and the service has been first rate.' |

James Bracegirdle![]() |
James is 17, he left school
in 2011 wanting to make a career out of event riding. He has been
working for Gemma Tattersall since January 2012 as a working pupil. He
took his horse Bally with him and was also lucky to be given the ride
on Marcel Tattersalls lovely mare Lacy – hopefully his first of many
rides. James’s aims in 2012 are to compete at Intermediate and to qualify for Glanusk Junior Novice Championships on Bally. Fingers crossed!! James didn’t choose to ride in Childéric he had no choice as his mother sells them – ha ha!! He was reluctant to swap from another well known brand but now says he has not looked back. |

Michelle Chalmers![]() |
Michelle says: Having ridden in treeless saddles for the last 8 years due to having a string of quirky mares, it was always going to be a special saddle for me to consider changing. The Childeric range of saddles, however are the ones that have surpassed, what I thought couldn’t be beaten. We trialled them against the advice of out horse physio, as she had never had an issue with any of our horses backs in all the time that we had used treeless, and didn’t think it was worth the gamble. But after using them for 8 weeks, she did her usual visit and found no difference in their backs. She was then told about the change in saddles and was very complimentary of them. Personally I feel that they help me maintain a better lower leg position over a jump, and give me more stability to help set up my horses for the more technical cross country fences. They also fit all the horses on our yard which can range from 13hh TB crosses, to very round Highland ponies or my 16.3hh 2** eventer. They are very well made and long lasting, I use mine every day for up to 10 horses, and all they need is a quick clean for the competitions. |

Blanchard Tricia
very kindly lent me a demo saddle to try on my horses, she fitted it
to two and also a 14.2 pony we have been struggling with. I rode the
next day on all 3, My mare, Fatila is difficult to get on wont stand
still, and doesn’t step under in the trot walk transitions, Straight
away, she stood like a rock to get on, and has continued to do so,
and after been in the saddle for 15 minutes, was floating around the
arena, calm and relaxed, mouth still (another of her problems),
Flossie, has no real Medium trot, and is difficult to keep connected
in the canter, I was going past the mirror, not even sure I was on
the right horse, such an improvement. The pony Max, has had a sacroiliac problem, and changes behind, Although behaving going out to shows he is only at low prelim level. Within 2 weeks, Max went out at Novice level, coming in 2nd behind me on 67.5 and 66.8%. An unbelievable change in 2 weeks, His owner has now bought the demo saddle and loves it. My horses went to the same show and both horses increased their marks, and gained better comments. Over one weekend I rode 10 tests and Charlotte also competed on 2 ponies, I had 4 first, 4 seconds and a 3rd and 4th. Charlotte had 2 2nds and 2 3rd places. At the para festival of Dressage, I am a Grade IV rider I took my two horses, Fatila getting the best marks she has had in over a year, winning the Team Test on 67.9 and 2nd behind our Olympic rider on a score of 68.8, probably the best score in the Individual test she has ever had. Flossie is actually only Elementary but only had 10 minutes to warm up, she still managed to get round the test with confidence and came 3rd and 4th. I cannot believe the huge improvement the horses have made, they all are happy and feel as if they can move so much more freely. |
